Psalms 121, Sermon Notes

Verse: Psalms 121

121 is one of the song of ascents

When was the last time you felt vulnerable?

In your vulnerability, God knows exactly what is happening

in your vulnerability, God promises to be close

Evil, brokenness, pain, chaos, death, disease, disaster – they do not get the final word

God does – the good that comes from God

Better Recorder Player

H, I think you’re the only kid I’ve ever known to become a better recorder player after the 4th grade.

They MAKE you play the record in the 4th grade.

Everyone endures it.

I endured it.

You survive the tests and the forced concerts, and then you never touch a recorder again.

It’s a rite of passage in the Americanized schooling I have known.

But you – you – took up the saxophone in 5th-grade band.

And it turns out that the saxophone is the instrument most similar to the recorder.

So you often leave your sax at school, sit in your room with the door shut, and incessantly toot on your old recorder.

I don’t even know how many songs you have taught yourself by ear at this point.

It’s pretty amazing to watch, if you want to know the truth.

I love you.

Why Are We Here, Sermon Notes

Title: Why Are We Here
Speaker: Tyler Dunn
Location: Lubbock, TX
Date: 22 June 2025
Verse: Galatians 6:1-5

Actively seek to care for one another’s souls

We care for souls by gently restoring

We care for souls by caring for one another’s burdens

We care for souls by walking in humility ourselves

Pride says:
-I don’t want to help
-I don’t want to help you
-I would love to help but I have my own problems
-I’ll help because I need to be needed
