Almond Allergy

Almond Allergy Challenge

H, hold the phone and sit down for this:

You do not have an almond allergy.

Of course, this fact will probably seem boring by the time you read this.

But it feels almost surreal to say right now, if you want to know the truth.

Long story short, because of a blood test, we were told you were allergic to – and we should avoid – all tree nuts.

Three to four years later, after essentially stumbling into another allergy doctor online, we have found out that was false.

See, we are in the process of starting you on a therapy regimen for food allergies called Oral Immunization Therapy (OIT).

Before we start OIT, the new doctor wants to be certain what you are allergic to and not allergic to – instead of relying completely on a blood test that is apparently wrong nearly a mind-boggling 50% of the time.

Not that the last doctor gave us that information…

I mean, I don’t even know if the last doctor was trying.

We have five or six nuts left to challenge before we start OIT.

But I am so thankful we don’t have to live in fear of almonds anymore.

Aunt Jenny kept K during our 4-hour appointment. And you and your cousins got in some great playing right before we met them at their house for dinner.

A huge thunderstorm blew in as we were leaving Midland, and after the rain finally let up, we got to see another rainbow.

It was a surreal day.

I love you.

Pig Face

Pig Face

K, you make the cutest pig face ever.

I am not even sure when we saw you do it for the first time.

But a month or two ago we were going through a list of animals with you.

The list that every parent asks their child:

What does a dog say?
What does a cow say?
What does a duck say?
What does a pig say?

Naturally, you rattled off all the answers like a champ.

But when we got to the pig, you didn’t say a thing.

You smiled broadly and then squinted your eyes tight two or three times in a row in rapid succession.

We were so excited for you.

K! Was that your pig impression?!

It was one of the more adorable things that I have ever seen.

Of course, at this point, we have taken like ten videos of you making the face.

My beautiful girl.

I love you.

First Fort

First Fort

Girls, we made our first fort last week.

Of course, I am a little ashamed it took us this long.

We sat most of the dining room chairs in a circle in the living room and draped a large white sheet over it.

Under it, we put a blanket, a sleeping bag, and a few pillows.

And after a little testing, H you topped it off by putting your toy lantern inside.

My favorite was coming home at 5, crawling under, and watching movie trailers on my phone while you both sat in my lap.

We played in it a little most every night for about a week before we had to take it down for the cleaning lady.

It was amazing.

Let’s do it again soon.

Please?

I love you.
