Big Thing

H, we have had elementary talks with you about private parts.

Super simple:

Boys have a penis.
Girls have a vagina.
You don’t let other people touch you there.
Sometimes mom and dad do, but only to help you potty.
If you get sick, the doctor can check you there.
Your backside is called a heinie.
Etc.

In that, you have taken to calling everything in that region your “heinie.”

I tell you that to tell you this.

I was using the bathroom this morning.

While I was there, you came in to chat, just asking me questions, hanging out.

I was sitting on the toilet and you were standing in front of me.

At some point, you glanced down at me and asked:

“Dad, what is that big thing on your heinie.”

Mom and I tried so hard not to laugh.

All I could do was answer:

“That’s my penis.”

I think you answered:

“Right, boys have a penis, girls have a vagina.”

You are perfect.

Don’t ever change.

I love you.

I’m Real Nice

H,

Some of it could be personality, some of it could be the fact you are in preschool, but you are incredibly outgoing.

And you couple that with a sweet and innocent spirit.

So we went to church tonight, for Awanas.

You were a little hesitant going, but mom and I just encouraged you:

There is nothing to be scared of. You just introduce yourself to the other kids and say: Hi, man name is H.”

We get there, you walked right in, walked up to a table with a few other kids around it and said:

Hi, my name is H. I’m real nice.”

You are real nice.

You are wonderful.

I’m so glad God let me get to know you.

I love you

Valentines Day Gone

H, life feels like too much sometimes.

A few days ago was Valentines Day.

Of course, I asked:

“Will you be my Valentine?”

You said:

“Yes,” as you nodded.

As I hug and squeeze you, I will never be 35 on Valentine’s day again.

And you will never be 2 on Valentines Day again, hugging me as I tell you that I love you.

It was a perfect day.

I am in a glass cage of emotion.

I love you.
