Band Of Other Children

Long day today. I’m tired now.

Anyway, H and K, you were playing in the front yard as we were getting dinner ready tonight.

As you played, the two girls that live across the street came over.

Y’all rode bikes and scooters up and down the street, drew with chalk on the sidewalk, and somehow got mom to get the bubble machine out.

T, we even turned you loose at one point, running around in our pajamas.

I forget the names of the girls, but they both go to Trinity. One is in second grade and one is in kindergarten.

I think I simply wanted to say that I liked that there were kids on the street y’all could play with.

Running up and down the street with a band of other children is something I remember fondly about living in Florida.

We drank out of garden hoses, had picnics in the shade, and created our own imaginary worlds.

I’m happy you are getting a little bit of the same.

I love you.

Four-Wheeler

Tonight was a good night.

Pop and Gramms were moving a few things from Seminole into their new Lubbock house today so we drove by after work and school to say hi.

They just had new carpet put in – and were having a new washer, drier, and refrigerator dropped off when we got there.

The cool part was that they were headed back to Seminole for the weekend and taking you, H and K, to hang out for the two days!

The part that I loved was what happened before y’all ate dinner.

Pop was putting his four-wheeler up and offered to take K on a short ride around the adjoining lot.

As they started, H, you got out of the car with mom (from getting dinner) saying: “No fair! I want to go!

Simultaneously, T, you were trying to swan-dive out of my arms and run towards all the fun, grunting, and whining, that you wanted to go too.

Hahaha.

Pop had to make three trips to satisfy all of y’all…

I love you.

Absolute Ham

T, you were the sweetest little thing this morning.

It was a chapel day at school for H and K and mom had to be at work early.

We, of course, all usually go to chapel as a family – but my boss is in town from Arizona and I wasn’t sure what time he would be in the office.

So…mom took H and K and I changed your diaper, got you ready for school, feed you breakfast, and dropped you off.

You were such an absolute ham while you ate!

I was feeding you a honey bun and you were laughing and squealing at every little thing I did.

I must have leaned over and kissed you on the face a dozen or so times.

We listened to the radio together on the way to school.

As we were leaving the driveway, I asked if I could hold your hand.

You softly said yes and held it up for me.

So we held hands the whole way and then just sat in the car for 5 minutes after we got there, listening to 90’s country music, and enjoying the moment.

It was bliss.

I love you.
