First Day In Bakersfield

I made it through my first day in Bakersfield.

I’m gonna be gone for 2 weeks!

Kind of can’t believe it…

First I had a 10 AM flight from Lubbock to Phoenix and then a 3:30 PM flight from Lubbock to Bakersfield.

Arizona and California are two hours behind Texas though.

So it was a five and a half hour layover for me.

(Crazy I lived in PHX for three years as a child.)

The CEO, who lives in Phoenix, flew with me the last leg and will be in town till Wednesday.

He is staying at the same hotel too so we went out to dinner tonight at Frugatti’s (Italian).

Showers for me, and I’m tired now.

Its 9:40 here but the means it’s nearly midnight where you are.

Big day tomorrow.

I love you.

Vacation Blues

Alright, welp.

We are back in LBK and right in the middle of the vacation blues.

I wanted to blog every moment of our 10-day vacation – but there was honestly no time at all for it.

We ran ourselves into the ground!

We left home and spent a day in Kerrville, four nights on South Padre Island, and then spent four nights at the Hyatt Hill Country resort in San Antonio.

A typical day in South Padre looked like this:

  • Woke late
  • Found something to do in town (for example, Sea Turtle, Inc. we toured one day)
  • Lunch
  • Swimming in the hotel pool
  • Dinner in the hotel room
  • Swimming in the hotel pool
  • Swimming in the ocean, and playing on the beach until sunset
  • Swimming in the hotel pool again
  • Showers
  • Bed

A typical day at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort looked like this:

  • Woke late
  • Hung out with cousins till noon
  • Ate lunch by the pool
  • Swam till 3
  • Dinner
  • Smores at 8 PM
  • Swam again till 9 PM
  • Watched the move on the lawn till 10:30
  • Showers
  • Sleep

We are all tired and cranky.

I haven’t told you yet, but I am keeping you girls home for the next 3 days before I start my new job.

Woop!

Sticky With Spilt Drinks

It was a good day.

First of all, it’s my week off!

I’m taking 3 weeks before I start my new job – out of crop insurance – back into cotton trading.

Tomorrow we have OIT up-doses in Midland – and Friday we leave for South Padre and San Antonio.

But I managed to keep Mon-Wed pretty chill this week. Mostly reading, writing, and going to the gym.

The best part was that today, I got you, H and K, from school (summer camp) at noon.

We joined mom for lunch at Rosa’s and then we went to the theater to see Boss Baby 2.

The place was dead quiet and the floor was sticky with spilt drinks, like every other movie house in America.

I’m so glad we get to be together so much over the next week before I have to go to training in California.

Early morning tomorrow and I can’t keep my eyes open.

I love you.
