Kaylee Reese

H, your alternate ego right now is Kaylee Reese.

Whenever you play or put on a show, you will introduce yourself as “Kaylee.”

If I press any further, you will say it’s “Kaylee Reese.”

To me, it sounds a lot like Bailey Reese! But what do I know…

You are so adorable.

I love you.

Memorial Day Walk

Today we went for a Memorial Day Walk.

But let me start at the beginning.

Before that, we made our annual trek to New Braunfels for lunch with a few of my old friends.

We ate at a pizza joint called Infernos, just down the road from Greene Hall. After we ate and visited, we walked down to the dancehall and watched a band playing Texas swing. It was hot though, and all the kids were getting tired, so we only stayed a little while.

Afterward we went by and dropped $70 at Buc-ee’s – not including gas – because that is just how we roll right now.

We got back to Grandma and Grandpa’s house around 5.

But around dusk, we decided to go for a walk down their dead-end road.

Our walk was magical.

We saw:

  • A GIANT axis deer (buck).
  • A very large tarantula crossing the road.
  • A jackrabbit.
  • A bat.
  • A snake (that had been run over).
  • And a ton of fire flies.

I think few things will set off the imagination of little girls like a country stroll.

The walk halfway down the road was a breeze, and mom and I didn’t even mind having to carry y’all back.

I love you.

H Pre-k Graduation

Well H, you graduated from pre-k last night.

Grandma and Grandpa and Pop and Gammies all came to town to watch.

You had two big parts in the procession and you performed both wonderfully.

First, you held the American flag and led everyone in the pledge of allegiance. You were a little shy to start, but did great once you got going with a little help from one of the teachers.

Later, you and another little boy sang America The Beautiful.

You had been practicing at home, and it showed. It was just fantastic.

Near the end, all of you kids held up your baby pictures and swayed back and forth as the speakers played Never Grow Up, By: Taylor Swift.

That one made mom cry pretty good.

We went to Wendy’s for Frosty’s after it was over and ended up eating a second dinner

And since grandma and grandpa took over your room, you and K stayed up way too late and slept on an air mattress in the floor of our room.

I am so proud of you. Every second of everyday.

Here’s to the next chapter of life.

I love you.
