We’re Gonna Deal On This

We’re Gonna Deal On This

H, when you don’t want to eat something, your go to phrase has becom: We’re gonna deal on this.

For instance you will say:

We’re gonna deal no this now. If I eat the rest of my pasta, half of my bread, and two more bites of green beans, I can be done – and go watch TV. Deal?

Mom or I might counter with:

How about if you eat all your pasta, all your bread, and three more bites of green beans – you can go watch TV. Deal?

Rather than whine, or cry, or pout, you want to negotiate.

I kind of love it.

I love you.

Ruidoso First

Ruidoso First

We had a Ruidoso first this weekend.

Just the four of us went!

Every time we have ever gone before it has been with Pop and Gammies and your cousins in July.

We left early on Saturday at 8 AM and got back to town on Sunday around 6:00 PM.

When we got to Ruidoso, we ate a late lunch at Cafe Rio, walked downtown on both sides of the street, checked into the MCM Elegante, had an early dinner at Lincoln County Grill, and then swam in the indoor pool until bedtime.

We made a fire and stayed up late watching cartoons.

Sunday we stopped by the downstairs breakfast bar for you kiddos, ate breakfast at Lincoln County Grill, and the went back to the hotel to swim until it was time to check out at noon.

We at lunch at Casa Blanca and poured everyone into the car exhausted.

Random note that the MCM Elegante’s indoor pool is salt water. The water felt less processed, if that is even possible. And I just wanted to get lost in the accompanying hot tub.

It was a quick but relaxing getaway at just the right time.

Can we go back soon?

I love you.

God Is Love

God Is Love

H, I tried to explain to you today that God is love.

It all started because it was cold and there were some frozen crystals on the windshield of the car.

Somehow that lead to a discussion about the movie Frozen.

You said something about how “Love can heal a frozen heart.”

So I thought this would be a great teachable moment…

As we got into the car and pulled out of the driveway, I told you:

You know what is really cool? The Bible talks a lot about love too. It says that God is love. That one of the best ways to describe God is by talking about love.

Before I could say much else, you told me that you already knew that. And you did it with the tone of a teenager…

I asked you what you were talking about and you said:

I already know that God is love. It’s first 1 John 4:8. God is love.

“Oh my goodness, that sounds right,” I thought to myself shaking my head.

I looked up the verse after I dropped you and K off at school.

Of course, you were right!

You make me proud everyday.

I love you.
