Mason (That Fart)

Mason (That Fart)

H, the first boy you ever said was your boyfriend was named Mason.

He is a boy we know from church and I even worked with his mom in Wednesday night Awanas.

But he is seven!

A good two years older than you.

Anyway.

Mom and I had Extended Session this last Sunday and his mom dropped him off in the wrong class – thinking Sunday School graduation was this week instead of next.

And you apparently knew him from our church’s monthly Parent’s Night Out program.

You got a starry look in your eye when you saw him and told us he was your boyfriend.

I was taken back, but mom that it was all endearing and cute.

It was a surprise to Mason too.

That night, we were tucking you into bed and you whispered something to mom.

And then you whispered it to me.

You said:

I love Mason.

My jaw dropped I think, and mom even had to tell me it was ok.

I’m not going to lie, but you saying it hurt my feelings a little!

You’re five, I know, I know…

Regardless of any other silly boys that come along.

Well.

I loved you first.

I love you.

Our New Corpus Christi Vacation

Our New Corpus Christi Vacation

We just got back from Corpus Christi.

I had a week of vacation that was about to expire so we kind of decided to go on short notice.

Not short notice – shorter notice than usual.

It was fun!

And more importantly for vacations at this point in our lives, you girls had an absolute blast.

Gone for a full 7 days, we also stopped 2 days in Kerrville on the way down and were there another 2 days on the way back.

We stayed three nights at the Hyatt Place on Padre Island Dr.

The first morning we toured the Texas State Aquarium.

And the second morning we walked to the end of Bob Hall Pier, drove to Port Aransas, took the Ferry back to Aransas Pass, and looked at houses up and down Ocean Drive – even getting out to see the Selena statue.

But the evening was the highlight of each day.

We changed into our swimsuits and got to Whitecap Beach every day we were there just after 6:00 PM.

You played in the sand and ran back and forth to the water until the sun went down.

As it got dark, we dusted off the sand and went back to the hotel to swim in their indoor pool until mom and I were too tired to keep going.

The time together was so beautiful and perfect.

Mom wants to make this an annual trip.

I hope so.

But I’m gonna need a few more vacation days.

I love you.

Are We There Yet Phase

The Are We There Yet Phase

H, you have hit the “are we there yet phase of childhood.”

It is kind of hilarious.

While we were in the car talking about cows on the way to Ruidoso – you hit it full stride.

The last 30 minutes of the ride you asked:

“Mom, are we there yet?”

No less than ten times.

We smiled everytime you asked and silently kept count so I could write it down later.

I love your youthful anticipation.

I mean, just wait till we tell you about our coming Disney World trip.

You won’t know what to do with yourself.

I love you.
