Your Cheer

K, you just shined in your cheer performance last night.

You cheered at halftime of the Texas Tech women’s game against Abilene Christian.

You even had a great little jump-kick at the end!

I wanted to leave at halftime – or at least by the end of the third quarter.

But we stayed and let you sit with your friends.

H even hung out with Hazel.

Of course, we spent a billion dollars on snacks and drinks.

And we stayed to the last buzzer, got home late, got everyone in bed even later…and ya’ll were all wrecked this morning when the alarms went off. 🤣

I’m sorry you do not function on little to no sleep (just like your Pa).

I love you.

All Pro Dads

Full disclosure, I did not want to go to All Pro Dads yesterday.

It’s before school and I never want to get out of bed.

It was raining.

And you know – all the people I am usually trying to avoid. 🤣

But y’all wanted to go and I’m glad we went.

They served breakfast and talked about gratitude.

The curriculum was interactive between parents and children, so we were constantly asking each other questions and doing activities together.

At one point, us parents were asked to tell our children five things we were proud of them for.

Y’all just beamed when I did.

Maybe we’ll go again next month?

I love you.

Morning Homework

K, you did some morning homework a few weeks ago and I forgot to document it.

See, you had a respiratory infection and the doctor had you on antibiotics and some steroids.

The steroids are a necessary evil – but I don’t love y’all taking them.

Why?

It gives you an insatiable appetite and makes it nearly impossible to sleep well (roid rage and all).

All that to say, you are 8 years old, and with steroids giving you a boost of extra energy, you woke up at 4 AM.

What did you do? Watch TV? Play Legos?

You got out your math packet (not due for a week) and finished it alone in the dark morning hours…

I mean, 🤣.

Seriously though, I am so proud of how you are doing in school.

You get your work done without being prodded, and you get nearly a 100 on everything you touch.

Point and case?

The last report card you got – you had a grade of 94 in P.E. – and it was your lowest grade!

I love you.
