Talking More

Talking Better, About Love

K, you are talking better every day now.

So last night we were waiting for H to finish her new Tuesday gymnastics class.

Over in the corner by the front door they have a couch.

We were sitting on it to pass the time.

We first just sat.

But in no more than a second, you wanted a snack.

Then you wanted my phone. And then a hug.

You got down off the couch and almost immediately wanted back up.

Before long, you were eating a tortilla and looking out the window for the fifth time.

A few minutes later, Mom got up to peek in the far window and check on H.

As she got just out of earshot you leaned back and emphatically said:

“I love Mama. I love Dada.”

Now I have heard you say “I love you.” before, but only in the third person.

I think that’s the first time you ever told me you love me!

My Kenny.

I love you too.

Beautiful Age

Beautiful Age

K, I just wanted you to know that you are at the most beautiful age right now.

You will be two-years-old in a few months.

And I swear you do the cutest thing you have ever done about every other day.

You smile and hug and laugh and you tease us too.

In my head, you are still this little baby.

But you talk all the time now!

Of course, you understand everything I say.

But, your answers are usually squeaks and grunts and single words.

Yesterday you were rooting in the cabinet for crackers.

After we were finished, I asked you to close the cabinet door.

Without hesitating you said:

“Ok, I’ll close it.”

Oh. And you can count to 10 now.

Did I tell you that?

You about killed me with cuteness the other day when you said “flamingo.”

I didn’t know it was possible to pronounce it that wonderfully.

My girl.

I love you.

Pig Face

Pig Face

K, you make the cutest pig face ever.

I am not even sure when we saw you do it for the first time.

But a month or two ago we were going through a list of animals with you.

The list that every parent asks their child:

What does a dog say?
What does a cow say?
What does a duck say?
What does a pig say?

Naturally, you rattled off all the answers like a champ.

But when we got to the pig, you didn’t say a thing.

You smiled broadly and then squinted your eyes tight two or three times in a row in rapid succession.

We were so excited for you.

K! Was that your pig impression?!

It was one of the more adorable things that I have ever seen.

Of course, at this point, we have taken like ten videos of you making the face.

My beautiful girl.

I love you.
