Being An Only Child, Might Be Awesome

Being An Only Child, Might Be Awesome

K, the last few days, you have loved being an only child.

See, H has been at Pop and Gammies house since Tuesday.

It gave her a break from school and has allowed her to hang out with her cousins.

We kept you home for ourselves though.

Selfish as that might be, we have tried to dote on you in all of our free time and have stayed up watching movies after you have gone to sleep.

It has been a bit of a break for everyone.

K, last night you had us laughing so hard with your dance moves.

Dance! K, Dance!” we would say.

Standing by the coffee table with a broad smile, you would put your hands on your hips and then pop them side to side.

Tuesday night we went out to eat at On The Border and you ate three entire tortillas and a smattering of rice and beans.

I am not sure where you put it all, but you just kept going and going.

This morning, I held you and we watched tap-dance videos of H while mom got ready for work.

You have enjoyed having the run of the house.

My sweet little biscuit.

You are ready to go too though.

I love you.

A Perfect Saturday

A Perfect Saturday

Girls, this was a perfect Saturday.

Sunday was, of course, Father’s Day and we were pretty low-key.

We went to church, took naps, and ran an errand or two, etc.

But Saturday was a full and awesome day.

We got up early and spent the morning at the pool.

On the way home, we picked up Wendy’s for lunch and ate at the house before we all took quick showers and baths.

As soon as we finished, we drove to Seminole and you girls spent the rest of the day playing with your cousins.

I think you both spent 95% of your time outside.

We all had spaghetti and lasagne for dinner and visited until the sun began to think about going down.

Mom gave you both baths and put you in your pajamas before we poured everyone back into the car and watched the sunset as we drove home.

After a big day, worn out kids sleeping in the back seat can be such a beautiful thing.

It rained a little on the way back.

And H, you woke up in time to see a rainbow.

Every weekend I get with y’all is great, but this one was especially hard to beat.

I love you.

Running Under My Legs

A New Game In The Kitchen

K, tonight you discovered a new game by running under my legs.

It was a delight to watch you.

See, it started in the kitchen.

We were home from work and school around 5:30, and mom and I were in the kitchen talking, thinking about starting on dinner.

We landed on waffles.

But as we were talking, I stepped to miss you walking past me, and you ducked and walked under my legs.

You stopped and giggled, wondering what exactly happened.

Like a flash, you realized that if I stood shoulder width apart, you could walk under my legs without hitting your head.

You tried it one more time and laughed again as you did it.

My beautiful baby.

We all forgot about ourselves for a few minutes and you ran back to front and front to back under me, throwing your head back and laughing with each pass.

I love the sound of your beautiful laugh.

When you get silly, it can quickly catch on in the whole house.

May both of us never forget sweet moments like this.

I love you.
