Own Bed

Your Bed

H, I am ashamed to say that this is the first week since K was born, that you have slept entirely in your own bed.

It began like this:

To start the night, you would start sleeping in your own bed.

And then 4 hours later you were waking us up wanting to sleep with us.

Of course, we were too tired to parent and we would just put you in bed with us.

Then you were sleeping 3 hours before coming to our room.

Then it was 2 hours.

Finally, we just started telling you to lay down with us.

And then, yeah, we turned around and a year and a half had gone by.

I know – parents of the year – right here.

Nevertheless, you have done awesome.

With a new nightlight and new Troll sheets, you took to your bed again like a duck to water with only one or two crying incidents.

We miss snuggling you but know we need to teach you to sleep by yourself.

Plus you are getting so big and tall, we were running out of room!

Goodness, I love you.

Can’t wait to see you in a few minutes.

I love you.

First Sentence

First Sentence

K, you said your first sentence at dinner last week!

You have been talking one word, two words, here and there.

And then one-night last week, I thought you were finished eating and I started to take your plate from you.

I said:

Are you all done?

You quickly answered me:

I not done!

I was shocked.

How was I supposed to know you could put an entire sentence together?

Quickly I yelled at mom:

Uh. What age are kids supposed to start talking?

Sweetheart!

Your vocabulary is growing like crazy right now.

I think H is teaching you everything she knows.

And you are a sponge watching her every move.

My baby.

I love you.

-Dad

Cracker? Anyone? Anyone At All?

Cracker? Anyone? Anyone At All?

K, my perfect little girl.

We gave you the word “dog” because of that phase that you went through saying dog over and over.

Well, now you get the word cracker too.

Enter, the cracker phase.

You ask for a Town House cracker no less than 10 times per day.

I mean, it is not uncommon on a Saturday for you to have eaten 7 crackers by the time we get ready to sit down for breakfast.

And half the time they are out – well, of course, everyone else wants a few crackers too.

You are so animated and sweet right now.

Leaning over to hug and kiss us, when you think the situation calls for it.

My Kenny.

I love you forever.

You are even doing this thing – and I have no idea where you got it – where you chase us with your arms out behind you.

To do it, you bend over slightly at the waist and extend your arms straight out behind you.

So – yeah – we started doing it too and chasing you back.

You love it.

I love you.
