Santa Socks

K, you insisted on wearing Santa socks to school this morning.

The thing is, there were plenty of other clean socks to wear.

It’s not like we had not done laundry in a week or something…

I even pleaded for you to wear another pair.

But you were adamant.

Mom tried to be certain you were sure about your decision.

She asked:

Are you sure you are ok with Santa socks? Even though it is not Christmas time? And are you ok if your friends all ask you why you have socks like that on?

You responded:

Yes. I’ll just tell them you made me wear these.

😲

I love you.

Snuggliest Girl

K, tonight you were the snuggliest girl in the universe.

Mom and I got you girls to bed, ordered Chinese fake-out, and sat up late watching The Family Stone.

Of course by 11, K, you were awake – up – and headed to our room to sneak into our bed.

We were still awake though and you were in the snuggliest of moods.

You and I talked and snuggled and showered each other in kisses and compliments while mom took a shower.

At one point you declared me the greatest dad in the universe.

When I asked how one becomes that you said:

That’s easy. You just have to do two things. Love your girl. And catch frogs.

I told you I was worried I might not be the best frog catcher, and you said:

That part is easy too. You get a net. You put some food in the net. Frogs like insects. You put the food toward the bottom and then tilt the net up a little. Then when a frog jumps in, “Snap!” you’re done.

Had to write this all down before I forgot.

Frogs beware.

I love you forever.

Still My Baby

T, mom has been asking you here and there if you are still her baby.

Are you still my baby? Come here, sweet girl. Are you still my baby?

The hilarious part is that you keep sassing her about it.

She would ask and you would respond: “Nooo.”

Honestly, I was enjoying it. Because when I asked you the same thing you would say “Yes” in your sweet little voice.

Hahaha!

I mean, you are 20-months and pushing her buttons.

Well, you turned the tables this morning and started saying the same thing to me.

And now I’m just sad.

Please stay my baby?

I love you.
