Weekend With Friends

H and K,

We are all heading to Kerrville for Memorial Day this weekend.

Going to visit Grandma and Grandpa.

While we are there, we are going to stop for the day and see some of my old friends.

I wish we lived closer to them.

I wish we could see them more.

And I hope this becomes an annual thing so you can get to know them.

But most of all, I just want to encourage you to have long, meaningful friendships with a group of people that share your values.

A group of friends that you can be 100% yourself around, and they accept you for who you are.

I am tired.

K, you have a little bit of a cough.

And mom’s allergies are frequently bad in Kerrville, so we will see how the weekend goes.

I love you.

Hibachi First

Pop and Gammies came to town this weekend to celebrate mom’s birthday.

We went to a Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar on Saturday for lunch (Hayashi).

The fun of it was that we sat at the Hibachi grill and watched them cook.

I don’t even know if H or K was more memorized with it all.

It was both your first time.

H, you told us you loved it.

K, you watched every move the cook made.

We all tried to sit outside and visit when we got home but we didn’t last long.

Mid-May, it’s already getting too hot to be outside in the late afternoon.

H and K, the next morning you were both adorable in your mother’s day dresses.

I think they were the same dresses you wore at Easter, but you wore them even better, if that’s possible.

We took pictures in the front yard after church and I wished I could freeze time.

I love you.

-Dad.

So Happy

K,

Just a quick note to you on your mom’s birthday.

We are back in another week of work and school.

And I am still trying to get over my sinuses trying to kill me.

But let me just say this.

I can’t believe how happy you are.

Don’t get be wrong, you cry if you are hungry or uncomfortable, or at night you cry if you want to be held.

Other than that, if I talk to you, mom talks to you, or H talks to you, you just light up.

You smile.

You laugh.

You watch us with the anticipation of so much to come.

I love that you are such a happy child.

I love you.
