Sweet Pee

K, tonight you called me sweet pee.

Oh yeah, it should be “sweet pea,”

P-E-A

But you said “Awww, daddy, you’re my sweet pee.

Sweet – because you are such a sweet daddy. And pee – because you pee so much.

I mean.

Sometimes there are just no words…

I love you.

Cacao

K, we were joking around tonight and you were quoting some line from Bluey.

You were also laughing about a scene in Storybots where a frog is telling how chocolate is made.

He keeps talking about “cacao” beans in this deep-voiced monologue, pausing here and there for dramatic effect.

We were laughing about it all and I told you I was going to start calling you “K-ca-cao.”

You said I wouldn’t – because I would not remember!

To which I said:

“That’s it. I am writing about this tonight. And you can read about this exact conversation for the rest of your life!

Boom. Done.

I never could find a video of that frog…

I love you.

Got Me

K mamacita,

You were so sweet to me today.

T got sick this morning and threw up, so I took you and H to church and Sunday school.

Afterwards, I took y’all to Whataburger for lunch where we all got chicken baskets.

We brought mom home a cheeseburger and then all went for a walk after we gathered ourselves.

We walked to the “yellow park” around the corner.

Anyway.

You asked me to push you on the swing when we arrived. I did and you requested that I sing while pushed.

You specifically asked for Amazing Grace, and I Believe I Can Fly (by R. Kelly). Ha!

As I pushed, you told how glad you were that you got me as a daddy.

You said that you loved me so much, and that you were thankful I was so kind and patient and loving to you.

I’m not sure what I did to deserve the deluge of compliments – but I’ll take them!

Later, you and H were fighting and I took you on a drive to separate y’all (you were just tired).

We stopped at Menchies and ate frozen yogurt: Vanilla ice cream, no toppings.

You fell asleep on the way home as I held your hand.

Later you were feeling so partial to me, you sat in my lap for half of dinner.

I love you.
