Get To Watch

K, you had your first dance class today!

I’m not going to lie, you have been after us for a year about going.

You saw H practice and then perform in her pageant last year, and you were just hooked.

You were absolutely brimming with smiles as we got to The Dance Gallery.

Your first lesson even happened to be one of the ones that parents got to watch.

You had a little bit of trouble following instructions – but it was your first lesson ever – so honestly who gives a care.

Your gonna get the hang of it. And you’re gonna do great at this thing.

Even if you decide that dance is not for you, I am certain that one day you’re going to find something else that’s even better.

I am so thankful that I get to watch.

I love you.

Buy It Twice

Jay Z apparently once said:

You can’t afford something unless you can buy it twice.

I just love how much advice there is in that small idea, for it puts you living below where you are technically capable.

If it’s a reach for you to barely finance a $400,000 home – you should probably be in a $200,000 home.

When the limit of your budget is a $50,000 car – it’s much safer to be in a $25,000 car.

And when you can afford to spend $800 per month eating out – spend $400 per month instead.

Living on less than you earn is after-all the first step to financial freedom.

I love you.

I Believe I Can Fly

This past Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mom and I had to work.

But, H, you are still out of school for the Christmas break.

Because of this you two have been at Pop and Gammies for the last three nights.

Anyway. Mom and I came to pick y’all up today.

You were both so tired from too many late nights and too much TV.

We all late lunch together and visited into the late afternoon before we came home.

Before we left, you girls insisted on swinging for a bit in the front yard.

We ended up swinging for over half an hour.

Lifting one of y’all in the air (forever ago), I sang a line from an old R. Kelly song.

I believe I can fly…
Spread my wings and touch the sky…

(Don’t lookup R. Kelly. Decades later he got in a ton of trouble.)

As we pushed you both in your swings y’all screamed that first line over and over until I asked you to stop.

And then everyone but me fell asleep on the car ride home.

I love you.
