Laidback And Slow

Mom and I both said at different times today that it was a nice day.

It was laidback and slow.

To start, we slept as well as any family does with a three-year-old and six-year-old up at random hours.

Then we milled around the house playing and watching TV until around 10.

I mostly drank coffee.

And then we headed to Seminole for the day.

We were lazy when we got there but mom and I got to visit with Pop and Gammies more than we have in a while.

My favorite part of the day was laying in the floor with you girls and watching TV in front of the fire. We laid on pillows and a bed-sheet Gammies had put down for us. I think we spent most of the afternoon that way.

We all had barbecue for lunch and apple pie in the late afternoon.

Y’all asked to stay, so we left y’all to spend the night around 5:30.

I already can’t wait to see you tomorrow.

I love you.

Semiconscious State

The time between Christmas and New Year’s Day feels like a semiconscious state of unknowing.

I mean, few are at work, and even fewer are really working.

See, I went to work today but only about 20% of our staff was there. And the phone didn’t ring once.

On the positive side, I did get some writing done. But mom had to run into her office at 11, so I ended up taking about a four hour lunch coming home and staying with y’all..

By the time I got back to work around 3:30 – they had just sent everyone home for the day.

Fine by me.

But why is anyone open to begin with?

We had such a lazy day and ate at Aspen Creek for dinner.

I love you.

To The Movies

I love it.

We have a new Christmas tradition.

After all the presents are open, all the food is eaten, and lunchtime begins to drag into the late afternoon and evening – we go to the movies!

Mom thought I was crazy when she heard me first suggest this.

I think because neither one of us grew up doing it much.

( I did it a few times in high school.)

It feels like a very urban thing to do.

Surprising is how popular it is.

We didn’t pass more than a few other cars on our drive to Alamo Draft-house, but their parking-lot was certainly full when we got there.

We watched Spies In Disguise.

I am going to look forward to this every year.

I love you.
