Living Room Floor

Ok, so I forgot to tell the rest of the story after the lame game.

See, Jenny and Dusty were at the game too. Not with us. They were down in the cheap seats dowm below Ha!

This meant that Pop and Gammies were watching all five of you girls back at our house.

We got home and all visited in the late afternoon and then went to an early dinner at Abuelo’s. It happened to also be Gammies’ birthday.

We visited some more that evening and then Jenny and Dusty went to a hotel for the night while Pop and Gammies headed back to Seminole.

You girls all slept together on air mattresses on the living room floor. Everyone fell asleep with little issue. we turned out the lights so late.

Everyone left by lunch the next day and we nearly collapsed from the full weekend when they did.

It was fun. And I loved watching you all play with each other.

I love you.

Lame Game

Mom and I went to a lame game today.

A lame Texas Tech football game that is, against TCU. (TCU won 33-31.)

See, mom has to go entertain bank customers once a year in the company suite and as a spouse, I get to tag along too.

It sure is nice up there with all the soft seats, free food and drinks, and fantastic view.

But the football team is not that great this year. Honestly, they weren’t very good last year either.

All of this was on display by the low attendance crowd acting as lethargic and lame as usual.

I told mom that sports is a funny thing:

If you want fans to cheer and scream at your game, it’s simple. All you have to do is win.

But consistent winning seasons has been a thing of the past for Tech Football since 2009 when Tech fired Mike Leach for basically not playing the right kind of politics with the Chancellor and board of regents.

I was mad then about it – and it still makes me mad.

I love you.

This is what Tech football looked like when I was in school:

Played Lavishly

H and K, we played lavishly good tonight.

All you girls were in Midland today for H’s OIT while I was at work.

But I got home at 5 with pizza from Papa John’s and left soon after to get Blue Sky for mom and I.

After dinner, you girls and I got in the floor of our bedroom and played for a good half hour.

We fought, wrestled, tickled and fell on each other over and over (Y’all fell on me.).

It was the absolute best.

I love you.
