Sweet Pee

K, tonight you called me sweet pee.

Oh yeah, it should be “sweet pea,”

P-E-A

But you said “Awww, daddy, you’re my sweet pee.

Sweet – because you are such a sweet daddy. And pee – because you pee so much.

I mean.

Sometimes there are just no words…

I love you.

Absolute Weekend

What an absolute weekend.

Oh my word.

T, you got a stomach bug at school and started throwing up Thursday night.

You threw up off and on all day Friday too. Mom stayed home with you all day.

Then school was out, dad was off work, you were feeling better, and we thought all was right with the world again.

And then mom started getting sick late Friday night!

We woke up Saturday morning and then K, you started throwing up!!!

I helped clean up where I could. Changed sheets. Sprayed Lysol. I went to the store and stocked up on Gatorade, soup, and ginger ale too.

H and I even drank a bunch of Welch’s 100% grape juice – and mostly hid in the master bedroom – trying to ward off the infection.

And maybe it worked? Post Poc Ergo Propter Hoc.

But at least we didn’t get sick!

Work is crazy, so I sure could have used a relaxing weekend.

But I’m glad that’s over.

I love you.

Little Self

H, tonight you showed me a glimmer of your little self.

I was giving you and K your OIT doses – like I do every night – and y’all were watching the new My Little Pony Movie.

Now you are eight going on 15, and you often give us running tallies of how many more years until you are X years old or until you are in college.

So I have this view that you are so big and so old sometimes. And you are!

But tonight you melted my heart.

When I came in the room, your face was lit up and smiling.

And with the excitement of Christmas morning, looking at the TV and talking to me at the same time you said:

Dad, if I was a unicorn and got all my powers back like she did, do you know how excited I would be?!

My little girl! I just love you forever, doosie.

Of course, I am primed for all of this.

Because, K, you turn five tomorrow!!!

I’m fact, you are laying in my bed now as I type this.

My sweet flower.

Ok, so I’m gonna head to bed and snuggle you now. Ok?

Sweet dreams everyone.

I love you.
