936 Saturdays

936 Saturdays

I realized the other day that you only get about 936 Saturdays at home with your children.

And while that’s about the most depressing thing I’ve ever heard, I like that it does put our limited time into perspective.

I hope I get another 936 Saturdays with you after the age of 18.

But we are not even guaranteed 936, are we?

Today was Saturday though and it got me thinking about – being nostalgic about time already gone, and all.

I love that I get to spend forever with you.

I love you.

Cousins Can Be Friends Too

Cousins Can Be Friends Too

I hope you foster close relationships with your cousins.

I mean, I don’t have any siblings, so the family on mom’s side is all there is much.

Of course, I have cousins of my own in South Texas and Alabama but distance has always been a big obstacle in those relationships.

We moved so much, I was simply not around enough.

For your benefit though, I – unfortunately – don’t know a lot of people that know their parents extended family very well.

Anyway, your Midland relatives were here for K’s two-year-old birthday party this last weekend and it made me think of all this.

My hope you have three or four deep and intimate longlasting friendships during your life.

Take the time to foster them.

Relationships are all that last, after all.

I love you.

Vacation Hangover

Vacation Hangover

Ok, I have a vacation hangover.

No, really:

I can’t  remember the last time I went on a seven day vacation.

My honeymoon? I think even that was 6 days…

I stayed up late last night playing on my phone pretending I didn’t have to come back to work.

And then the day began.

All I will say is that I survived.

It was one of those days when you make it to work physically, but mentally stay home.

Let’s go take a million more vacations we never want to come back from.

I can’t wait.

I love you.
