Phone Today

Phone Today

K, you stole my phone today and almost sent your first tweet.

I sat my phone down and simply forgot to lock it.

You apparently got your hands on it a few seconds later and by the time I got back in the room and got my phone back, you had Twitter open and a tweet all typed out.

At some point down the road, if you still want it to be your first tweet, I saved it for posterity.

It was:

“Pool ppooiuhtex”

I love you.

Night Netflix

Night Netflix

H, tonight we watched some late night Netflix together.

See, mom and I tucked you in around 8:30, as usual.

Fifteen minutes later, after mom and I had gotten our dinner ready and were eating in bed – watching Jim Gaffigan’s new stand-up special – you came strolling back into our bedroom like it was noon on a Saturday.

You had a smile on your face and crawled up in the bed to sit with us.

After sampling some of our food, I changed the channel at your request, and we all watched The Great British Baking Show.

We even shared a small bowl of ice cream while we watched.

You asked if you could stay and sleep on a homemade pallet in the corner of our room.

Of course, we let you.

You were probably down again by 9:30.

Honestly, you can steal some of our personal time again, if you want to.

I love you.

Wound Up

Wound Up

Wow, you girls were wound up tonight.

Work and school both had delayed starts today because of all the snow so it was kind of an odd day.

But Pop and Gammies came over for dinner, and that was apparently the only excuse Y’all needed to cut loose.

They brought Fazoli’s with them and we ate at the table like usual.

K, you even wanted to say grace after H had said it – and of course we let you.

After dinner you both went wild.

Y’all were singing and screaming and dancing and talking non-stop.

To be fair, we had just been stuck in the house for two days, and it had been a while since you had seen your grandparents.

Even with the chaos, I still love the impromptu concerts, the pitter-patter of little feet in the house, and two little girls meowing at my feet pretending to be little kittens.

I love you, desperately.
